ABOUT CHARLIE RIBEIRO...
Charlie Ribeiro is a British artist and photographer whose work explores the poetic potential of light, colour, diffusion, and space. He is a graduate of Falmouth University with a First Class Honours degree in Photography.
Ribeiro's practice has evolved towards abstraction, where photography becomes less a means of describing the world than of evoking a sensory experience.
Ribeiro draws inspiration from contemporary art, painting, music, and the rhythms of the natural world. He creates images that resist certainty. Capturing what is felt, those fleeting moments that exist between memory, perception, and imagination.
His practice is rooted in experimentation. Light is treated as a material in itself, colour becomes atmosphere, and space something to inhabit rather than observe. His work emerges through a process of discovery, where intention, intuition and chance exist in quiet dialogue.
The resulting images ask for little more than time. They invite viewers to pause, to look slowly, and to experience photography as something contemplative, intuitive, and deeply personal.
